Well, here we are at the airport. I intended to write during our vacation, but didn’t. We are currently waiting for a flight that got delayed twice and is still four and a half hours from now. At least this flight didn’t get degraded like our flight coming to Florida. The worse part is the lack of sleep we feel when we get to where we’re going. Patti can usually sleep some on the plane, but I’ve never been able to. I finally have a routine that works for me just about every night, but it requires a bed and multiple pillows. First-class accommodations don’t cut it for sleeping. Admittedly, we are not flying luxury airlines so perhaps I’ll sleep on a plane when I’m super rich.
I will not pretend that being stuck in the airport is any great torture. We are in comfortable chairs with plugs for our electronics and airport Wi-Fi. What more could we want? Mainly, to be at home with the cats in our bed. Patti makes fun of me for never wanting to leave the house, but she would rather be home right now, just like me. Airports are only fun for people who don’t have to use them like regular people. I make the most of the flights, but I have to ignore most of what goes on around me to do it. The best part of the flight is when it’s over.

It’s been about two days since we’ve been back from our vacation. My happiest moments after the vacation were seeing the cats for the first time when we walked into the house and eating my first regular meal. After eating for a week and a half mostly amusement park food, I welcome food that doesn’t make me sluggish after eating it. I gained my regular 8 pounds during the debaucherous time. One day back to work and I lost 3.5 of those pounds. It’s not just what I’m eating that gets me. It’s also the lack of sleep and inconsistent consumption of water. As I said before I left on the vacation, vacations are bad for my health.

Well, it snowed today at my house. This is only special when you realize I live in the desert. Since I have lived in my current house, it has not snowed once before today. It was hailing yesterday which kind of looked like snow, but today it was full-fledged snowing. I’m at work now and it’s raining. It’s supposed to rain all night long. People say that Southern Californians go insane in the rain. It’s not that we’re insane (although the cool rhyme makes me want to say that we are). We are just not used to extended weather events. It’s crowded and expensive to live here because of that. We live in a not as expensive area, but I work an hour away from our house because of it.
I’ve accumulated quite a collection of digital video files from my old VCR recordings. I was almost naked in a surprising number of them. You would think the videos would be unplayable by now, but they have been better than I thought. The oldest videos show their age and it didn’t help that we recorded many of them using the LP (long play) speed or even SLP (super long play). I recorded most of my videos at SP (standard play). This meant each cassette tape held two hours of video. SP is the highest quality recording. My dad usually put a video recorder in the corner and captured our family and visiting relatives playing games for hours. He put the recorder on LP or SLP so he wouldn’t have to change the tape. The video is only slightly more interesting than security footage so the low quality is fine.
I’m a good person, but I think that means nothing. Most people believe they are good people or don’t care if they are. My knowledge that I’m a good person comes from a logical examination of treating others as I would want to be treated in their place. I know people are not good people when they behave badly to other people. How you treat strangers is how you treat people when you think no one is watching. If you treat them poorly, you are not a good person. If you treat people you know poorly, you’re a terrible person.
