My office is slowly but surely looking like a toy store. I bought cubes and shelves to help me display them instead of piling them up in corners. I was questioning why I would have these things if I couldn’t see them. These are probably the last toys I will collect until I have more room. It’s just too much stuff. This doesn’t mean I’ve displayed all my toys. I have a 55 gallon trash bag full of stuffed animals I have no room for. It’s sitting in our living room mocking me and irritating Patti.
If this is the first Thoughts paper you’ve read, you may wonder why you’re reading the thoughts of a twelve year old child. I’m here to tell you these are the thoughts of a fifty-three year old man. Some toys are Star Wars related so I could be called a collector. I also have Nightmare Before Christmas items, Disney figurines, and various animated movie, TV, and comic book characters on display. If I bought them in a box, they are mostly still in the box. I don’t think I have a complete collection of them unless that was how I bought them. I’m not a true collector in that way. Most of them I purchased at a discount, so I got what I could get. If I liked the look of them, I bought them.
It’s getting more pleasant to walk into my office. As soon as I finish with the toys, I’m working on cleaning up the rest of the random crap I have stacked in boxes. It’s all about organizing my office so I can organize my life. Part of organizing my life is organizing my finances. To accomplish this, I am getting a low interest loan so I can pay off my high interest credit cards. I only have two cards. I’m better off than when I had to go to credit counseling many years ago. This is part of my plan for finding a house closer to my work. A good credit score helps with buying a house.
We’ve gone back to the older and healthier cat food. Luna has had no more accidents since we did so. The food we get is more expensive, but it’s worth it not to have to clean up squirty poops. She’s also been more vocal than she ever was. She hardly ever meows and when she does, it’s a squeaking noise. The other day, she meowed up at me in the kitchen with a full voice meow. I thought it was one of the other cats, but none of them were around. I tried to get her to meow fully again, but she clammed up. It was a once a night performance.
I broke up the final mirror we took out of the house so we could put cabinets up. They were giant mirrors that were about 12 feet high. The last that we had were 2 feet wide but still 12 feet high. I had to put them over our main trash can and hold the other end up on other trash cans. As I was breaking them over the trash can, I was wondering if we had any superstitious neighbors hearing me break the mirrors. It’s a pretty distinct sound. They could probably tell what I was doing. Were they thinking we were insuring our bad luck for the next few years. Is that even a thing anymore? Is it only old people like me who know about these old superstitions? As with everything else, I’m not a normal old person. I was just glad to be done with them.
