Our last day here in Jamaica is here. We got up at 7:00 this morning. Tonight, we have to be in bed by 8:00 pm because we have to wake up at 4:00 am tomorrow. We have to have our luggage outside our room by 5:30 am and be out of our room by 6:00 am. Our flight is not until 10:38 am. The worst part of vacationing is getting to the vacation and getting home from the vacation. The traveling is what you put up with and forget when you think about your vacation.
We took one last visit to our parrot friend Crackers. All the ducks, Crackers bigger parrot friend (who we never found out the name of), and most other creatures were asleep. We were out too early, even for the creatures of Jamaica. We took a trip to the nude beach the other day and found out why animals are naked and humans are usually not. The humans you want to see naked are nowhere near the nude beach. A lack of tan lines is my biggest turnoff. The thought of people spending all their time tanning their whole body lets me know they are boring and shallow people.
The rooster is chock-a-doodle-dooing again. It’s 1:00 pm. I thought maybe he was a clock rooster. He calls out every hour on the hour. He went way past one, so maybe he’s a military clock rooster. The only thing you can count on is hearing him often. He’s loud and proud of being one cocky son of a chicken. We have to start packing our bags now, so you probably won’t get any more thoughts from me today. You’ll have to wait until another day for my thoughts or get someone else’s thoughts. Maybe you could think for yourself, write it in your diary, and read back on it when you’re done.

It’s here. The day we dreaded since we got to Jamaica. We’re in the shuttle back to the airport from the Couples Resorts. It’s 6:42 am as I type this. I went to the restroom one last time before we got on the shuttle and Mr. and Mrs. Peacock were out. Mr. Peacock was displaying his full cockiness. Later, I found out there is another male peacock that we saw as I got back to Patti. He was also displaying his cockiness, but he shook some more and spread his feathers even further. I captured it on video. He kept squawking in how only peacocks can. I tried to video that, but he was silent every time I was recording. I could also hear the rooster cock-a-doodle-dooing in the distance.
We’re at one hour until we get to the airport. The shuttle ride is not a happy time for Patti. They travel very close to the vehicles in front of them here. In long stretches of straight road, people pass slower moving vehicles by driving in the lane coming the other way. When they barely get back over to avoid hitting the vehicles coming the other way, Patti winces and sucks in her breath. No matter how many times it happens, she reacts the same way every time. It’s like watching a movie with her. Every time someone on screen is in peril, she acts like it’s happening live in front of her.
We passed a police motorcycle, and it said, “Dial 119.” I’m guessing this is their version of 911. I know in England they dial 999. I also just noticed a butterfly on the side of the road. All the butterflies I’ve seen have been yellow. I saw a white one once, but I think that was a young butterfly. I think we’re at the airport now.
Time flies when you’re flying through the air at 600 mph or so. We’re in Miami, waiting for our next flight to LAX. As usual, I’m seeing the airport through a tired haze. It’s 17 minutes until we board the plane. We’re in the first group so that’s good for us. A coworker of mine said once that she would only try first-class. Back then, we made fun of her and called her “first-class.” Now, I agree that first class is the only way to fly. I still won’t be able to sleep even with the laid down flat seats, but they are much more comfortable, and you don’t want to miss out on the first-class amenities by sleeping.
